I had several troubles including Bifid Uvula – submucous cleft palate and Velo Pharyngeal insufficiency operation when I was 8 years old. I also suffer with Allergic Shiners.
In my early years of childhood potty training was a difficult one, anytime I was taken out anywhere even to a friend's, I always had to go to the toilet even though I had only been several minutes before hand.
My Parents were told when I first started school that I would never learn anything by one teacher and my Mum sent me to a special school for those with special needs for 2 years. My Mum taught me to read. Then I went back to the original primary school where one of my teacher's Mrs Smith, was fantastic and a great help with my learning skills. I was never diagnosed with VCFS until I was 18 years old.
When I left school and college I still found it very hard to learn, & my concentration levels were not great. I also found it hard to hold down employment. I also had carers from the age of 17-20 to help me cope with my disability and also depression.
Now in 2012 I am living on benefits and living as independently as I can with support from my family and friends.
I also find I still get on better with people who are much older than myself, as I feel they can understand me, there are many factors of my life that I wouldn't ever change. People accept me for who I am.
I also loved musical's and I would watch them over and over again, and would still to this day, not only musicals now but any kind of music I love and I'd have it on repeat!
