2015 tRailbazers Walk

Image: trailbazers_002_medium.jpgThe walk this year will be taking place between the railway stations of Eggesford and Umberleigh in North Devon. It's approximately 12 miles in length and will follow as closely as possible the railway line by using roads, footpaths and bridleways.

Who are tRailbazers?

It all started back in 2009 when the daughter of a manager succumbed to kidney disease. In her memory and to raise funds for the hospital that treated her so well, we decided to do something. Very soon in the planning we thought it may be interesting to walk the line on which we work.
The West of England line runs from Salisbury to Exeter and is part of the former LSWR and latterly Southern Railway's mainline from London Waterloo to Devon and Cornwall. The routes most famous train was the Atlantic Coast Express which ran from London Waterloo to various locations within Devon and Cornwall including Plymouth, Bude, Padstow, and Ilfracombe between 1926 to 1964.
We therefore decided to walk the 'Route of the ACE' breaking it down into smaller sections. Since then we have completed seven walks and raised over 17,000 for various charities.
This year, we will be supporting Max Appeal, again due to colleagues who have been affected by DiGeorge Syndrome within their families. After speaking to Glyn, we are aware that you are only a small charity yet do such great work for Harry and many others.

We are by no means a professional walking club but just a group of work colleagues and friends who enjoy walking and raising money for good causes. Our group is made up of both current and former, retired employees so our age range and our levels of fitness vary greatly. We are a friendly bunch and welcome anyone who wishes to join us on our little jaunts.
